Solutions Engineer

Sound Intelligence' US entity in Northfield, IL and is looking to grow the US team with a Solutions Engineer in the Chicago area. This role will be a key player in achieving our ambitious growth plans, by supporting our territories’ customers and partners.

What you’ll do here

  • Work on technical customer/partner projects through resolution
  • Participate in on-site proof of concept and trial installations
  • Present training seminars on-site and virtual for customers and system integrators
  • Provide hands-on deployment support with installation, calibration, configuration, troubleshooting, fine-tuning, and integration of our solutions
  • Help to build demo and testing lab
  • Manage on-site sound detection tests
  • Suggest improvements to processes
  • Track customer info and update as needed
  • Document technical solutions and innovate new ideas to resolve issues
  • Provide the highest quality technical pre- and post-sales engineering for our customers and partners
  • Ensure system with customer deployment details is maintained
  • Work on system design and schematics recommendations and RFPs and RFIs
  • Provide feedback to R&D team on product improvements
  • Ensure Customer Cases are documented thoroughly and resolved to customer’s satisfaction
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills and Experience You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Networking Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent industry training
  • 2+ years of experience as a pre-sales or technical solution sales working in networking, integration, and/or 4+ years’ experience in video surveillance systems, security cameras and IP based video surveillance technology, both software and hardware
  • Exceptional customer service skills including detailed follow-through and professionalism in written, speaking, telephone and email communications
  • Design documentation skills, ideally of schematics, flow charts, topologies, and metrics using diagraming tools such as Visio and be a power user of MS Office applications including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, able to diagnose, reproduce and analyze issues to solve problems effectively and efficiently, by logical deduction and thorough process of elimination
  • Someone who enjoys training customers
  • Solid technical writing skills especially white paper, manuals, and instructions
  • Problem-solver, analytical, flexible, organized, great communicator and listener, willing to pitch in with the team to get done what needs to get done and do it well
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and have a positive mental attitude
  • Convictions to the principals of honesty, dependability, responsibility/ownership, and a motivated self-starter

Valued, But Not Required

  • Strong presentation skills
  • Knowledge of audio systems and/or sound detection
  • Experience with IP Video and Video Management Systems Installation and/or configurations with video analytic solutions
  • Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, Routers, Switches, VPN’s, Cybersecurity, etc.)
  • Programming and application design
  • Use of CRM tools and/or help desk applications

Location, Travel and Physical demands

  • Based in the greater Chicago, IL area (commutable to our Northfield office)
  • 25-50% travel nationwide
  • Occasional international travel
  • Physical Demands: Employee is occasionally required to lift 20-50 lbs.
